Acer or Edutest

Exam Introduction:
ACER test includes Humanities (45 min) and Mathematics (45 min);
Edutest includes Reading Comprehension, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Numerical Reasoning. Each test will take 30 min.

For current year 5 students

Scholarship and selective examinations are rigorous entrance selection assessments of an individual’s creative, logical, critical and abstract thinking abilities. These tests are designed to assess the potential developmental capacity of a student’s learning abilities, utilizing difficult problem-solving questions and sourcing content from the national curriculum years ahead of the student’s expected level as the primary mode of examination.

Top Scope College’s Scholarship and Selective Test 6 (SST 6) class, offered to current year 5 students, is a 12-month program that aims to equip students with the essential tools and knowledge to tackle the challenges presented in these exams.

There are 3 primary and 1 independent examination structures used for scholarship and selective entrance examinations in Victoria:

Scholarship & Selective Test 6

–    Test 1: Written Expression (extended response, 25 minutes)

–    Test 2: Humanities – Comprehension and Interpretation (multiple choice, 40 minutes)

–    Test 3: Mathematics (multiple choice, 40 minutes)

–    Test 4: Written Expression (extended response, 25 minutes) 

Scholarship & Selective Test 6

–    Mathematics

–    Mathematics (30 minutes)

–    Numerical Reasoning (30 minutes)

–    English

–    Reading Comprehension (30 minutes)

–    Verbal Reasoning (30 minutes)

–    Writing

–    Creative writing or Persuasive writing (15 minutes)

AAS

–    Test 1: Written Expression (extended response, 25 minutes)

–    Test 2: Humanities – Comprehension and Interpretation (multiple choice, 40 minutes)

–    Test 3: Mathematics (multiple choice, 40 minutes)

–    Test 4: Written Expression (extended response, 25 minutes) 

Scholarship and Selective Test 6 program focuses on teaching content assessed within the above structures, as well as other independent assessments formulated privately by the assessing schools through routine practice examinations and tests. Our program includes: 

–    Weekly writing tests: – alternating between lengths of 15 minutes and 25 minutes.

–    A 2 weeks cycle:

–    First week involve practice exams + detailed explanation of test questions.

–    Second week focuses on learning content from our worksheets and study plans.

–    Classic reading and writing course: – scheduled outside of regular class timetable and aimed at providing additional writing assistance and practice.

–    Mathematics Revision Course: – scheduled outside of regular class timetable and aimed at providing additional assistance for and revision of maths concepts.

 

Our teaching goal for this program at its core centres around the development of our students’ critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Through our additional mathematics and writing courses, we ensure that our students’ conceptual understanding for the content is sound, while also improving students’ weaknesses. To do this, our course will encourage students to: 

–     Develop an understanding of the reading and writing process

–     Develop the use of questioning skills

–     Extend personal knowledge

–     Examine structure and organization of text/stimulus material

–     Develop expression, style and mechanics in reading and writing

–     Explore thought, concepts and content

–     Access adaptations of the world’s greatest literary works

–     Learn about cultural and historical contexts to develop a broader understanding of the world

AAS

For current year 7 – 8 students

While our SST 8 program prepares students for the SEAL program offered at year 7 in government schools, the SST 8 selective entrance preparation focuses on the 4 main selective schools in Victoria: Melbourne High School; Mac Robertson Girls’ High School; Nossal High School and Suzanne Cory High School.

Acer Scholarship & Edutest Scholarship

The Acer Scholarship and Edutest Scholarship provide excellent possibilities for students to pursue their academic goals and reach their full potential. These scholarships not only provide financial support, but also identify and recognise academic distinction and leadership potential.

To apply for the Edutest Scholarship, students must first take an online scholarship exam that evaluates their academic talents and potential. Based on their exam results, a chosen number of students will be awarded the scholarship, which provides financial aid for their tuition fees.

Applicants must have exceptional academic performance and be able to demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to their chosen field of study to be eligible for the Acer Scholarship. The scholarship pays for tuition and an amount of money to cover living expenses for the duration of the degree programme.
